streetscape launchpad...

Dirk Bikkembergs has rocked the realm of designer fashion introducing a crisp new flagship store concept with an event that was memorable, authentic and full of power in every way...

he had over 100 footballers running through the streets of Milan, dressed in the most luxurious tracksuits signed Dirk Bikkembergs...their presence altering the streetscape and their destination...Via Manzoni 47

"The first Dirk Bikkembergs flagship store is synonymous to an advanced total concept. It shows the home of the Dirk Bikkembergs sportsman, which captures and overlooks the entire world of the Belgian fashion designer in a space counting 1.300 m2 spread over 3 levels and housing 15 magnificent windows."

old is definitely new...

or so she says...emma loves retro!!!

inspired by her childhood, or her parents home-decor...emma presents a range of fabrics handmade with love from vintage and recycled fabrics...

very cool in my opinion...

wingin it...

sometimes i feel like i'm winging it with my blogg but then other times i feel like i stumble upon such exciting finds that i want to share with all y'all out there...

today i came across a company called cox & cox... www.coxandcox.co.uk
these guys showcase a range of unusual yet practical products and make them easily available through their website...

one of their products just sums up my thoughts....

blue is the colour...

if we see it on the catwalks...

my guess is we'll be seeing it in the spaces we inhabit...

blue it is then so...thats what me thinks...!!!

roll up...roll up...

its another wallpaper post, but what an explosion of colour...and texture...!!!

at a staggering 595stg a roll, its a collection of antique papers and love letters from around the globe...but you are guaranteed that no two panels will be the same...

bedding deities...

lares linens... www.lareslinens.com

one of the print companies that stood out for me in the loft was Lares...i like the understated luxury that 'Lares' evokes through its company philosophy inspirations, as its evident in the materials to touch and feel...how often does a company's ethos come across in such a tactile way...

''Lares fine bedding is all about laid back, low-key luxury. We are a cottage industry making and selling duvet covers, cushions, covered hot water bottles; pillowcases; throws and hand towel sin fine fabrics. We use vintage fabrics, Irish linen, silks from France and India, and the smoothest cottons: The bottom line being how any fabrics feels against the skin and just as importantly, how it survives in a busy home.''

call up, hang out & buy something...

on sunday past i ended up strolling into the loft market at powerscourt town centre...
art, photography, fashion, bags, organic, clothing, jewellery, vintage, print, accessories, bespoke, shoes, original designs & paintings...it had it all

there were a few prints and canvas artists who really stood out for me...

if you find yourself in the grafton street area - take a wander up here - its intriguing and inspiring to say the least...

more wallpaper thoughts...

my wallpaper musings in an earlier post led me to this catchy image from cole & son...

Cole & Son have released a new wallpaper collection, New Contemporary III...this advertising image captured me more than the new range though...

impact and drama on a large scale...

yesterday i decided to visit the national gallery of ireland...i had never been there before but having lived and studied in edinburgh i was a massive fan of the new museum of scotland, so i was really looking forward to visiting the millenium wing of the museum designed by benson + forsyth...

on entering the space the sheer massiveness and drama from the space was exactly what i had expected from benson + forsyth...

and true to form - the beauty is in the detail...the massive pivoting doors, the slices and viewfinders in partitions on the upper floors...the views through gallerys or along nassau street from within, dublin almost becomes framed by the building as a living breathing piece of art in itself...

where have i been...

i've noticed this trademark leaf gaining popularity quite recently....girls have it on their bags on their purses on their notebooks...

but given her dues she creates some quite manly retro designs also... she gets a big thumbs up from me!

i think used in the right way with vintage pieces of furniture i could create quite the eye-catching interior with a dash of colour and pazazz from orla kiely! i'm a big fan of her collections - both her motifs and the application of them in her accessories....
