leadership...

this is the image that caused all the scandal...

a caricature of ireland national leader; an taoiseach - mr brian cowen, in the nip was mysteriously hung in the national gallery in ireland...

great hype surrounded this story for a few days...

plain rude or plain funny...??? you decide...

tynan luxury...

pierce tynan architecture and design create beautiful interior spaces...his design team was the force behind a painstaking restoration to bring bellinteer house back to glory...

a few weeks ago my girlfriend and i took a drive to visit this luxurious boutique hotel for a bit of a nosey and some tea and scones...

we only had access to the public bars, library and reception area...but we were both overwhelmed at the understated luxury that oozed from this space...

the wellies available to borrow for guests who wish to take a walk in the grounds just emphasised the cosy at home feel that enveloped the luxury and sophistication...

animal furniture...

when i was made redundant back in october i was working on a great project speccing these items for lounge and bar areas...

hopefully that project will be launched very soon and i can wangle some passes for the opening night...

the selby...

i've a feeling this is fairly well known at this point amongst most of my blog readers - however its still news to me and its my blogg....better late than never!!!

what an inspirational blogg the selby is...

the selby features photographs, paintings and videos by Todd Selby of interesting people and their creative spaces/houses/studios...i'm aiming to be a subject of the selby one of these days...selby's work is incredibly chic and fashionable...

and thanks to Moo for the inspiration and update...selby is a photographic artist that i know i'll be taking notice of from now on...

diesel for home...

diesel is launching a home collection this week in Milan...

there is very little info about the collection but you can find some great pics on the diesel website...

lowe and behold...

some eye candy from silversmith and designer Olivia Lowe...

Olivia creates fantastical and whimsical objects displayed as flower vases...her explorative design methods bring her to explore the relationship between natural objects such as flowers, and the contrasting qualities of silver - both together create a unique display piece...

lamp...

another little bit of me...i've been waiting a while to see these images...

Bob Neilson is one of my best friends - we studied together at Napier University, Edinburgh...thats where we met and we've been great friends ever since...Bob is now a sales rep for lamp lighting, and he launched their flagship lighting studio in scotland earlier this year, Bob is sole supplier in Scotland for their products...

while i was out of work last year i had time to focus on this project in collaboration with Bob and black moon lighting...

this is lamp's flagship lighting studio in Edinburgh...its not a big space, lamps corporate identity heavily influenced the use of colour in this space...

the idea of walking into a white studio space for a lighting showroom is used tiringly of late so the brief was to use the corporate colours and identify blocks of lighting with the use of dropped rafts to create a new sense of style in lighting studios...

i will at a later date post the moodboard i created for this project but for now here are some shots of the finished project...i was very glad of this opportunity at the time it came and i'm happy with the end results...

viceroy...

everything about this place just screams my name...its totally along my lines of thinking, simple and orchestrated design and staging with fantastic detailing...

i love the bold colours, the simple detailing in the furniture...the mirrored ceiling, the carpet design and the ornamental back bar shelves all compliment each other and set off the bar area...
i love the stacked diagonal library bookshelving...

the outdoor area is very grand in its simplicity...the wind lanterns and gazebo add a touch of romance...

the bedrooms seem like a calm oasis is what is quite a bold space...

meet joel escalona...

i wrote an article for largom.com recently which focused on joel escalona...

i was fairly taken by his design and his design theory...his dancing table and matching rug seemed to be such a phunky and cool little statement for any bar or restaurant...

joel escalona will himself be present at ICFF as part of ICFF studio with his project dancaing table...this year 8 winners from over 400 entries across the world won a spot to display their prototypes on the ICFF exhibition floor at ICFF studio, a group area with individual boths designed by TRUCK Product Architecture...

the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) will be held Saturday, 16th May through Tuesday, 19th May, 2009 at New York City's Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.

earth day...

while we should consider our environment everyday making our daily decisions...should we walk or take the car; should we buy organic and in-season produce...will i turn off the lights as i leave the room etc etc etc...today is earth day and we really should give these matters some attention today...

earth day is a great way to get people motivated...so i hope your calendars are marked and your setting out today to be kind to mother earth today...

as my girlfriend reminds me - do we really want to see our future generations living on mars...

thanks for the seat...

babylon falling...

i was walking into the city centre yesterday and i noticed some guy marking out some graffiti on a regularly worked spot...

i didn't feel right in going up to ask if he was maser or leger and now i'm kicking myself - as we walked home his work was done and it was indeed maser...

dublin...it says babylon falling inside the heart...

alcoholic architecture...

a good friend down under alerted me to this quirky architectural concept...

i'm guessing someone thought of this after a glass and a half of red...

introducing the UK's first walk-in cocktail...

"Alcoholic Architecture arrives in London with Bompas & Parr’s walk in cloud of breathable cocktail. Step inside a cocktail with gin and tonic mist, giant limes, and massive straws."

chamone...

well this hit the news here in ireland earlier this week...

Michael Jackson's items are no longer up for auction...auctioneers had already set up over 1000 items to be sold and had opened the auction space to the public only to cancel hours before it was to begin...

no details have been disclosed regarding the settlement other than a stateament to say both parties are very happy with the new developments...

a selection of his items were on public display in the newbridge silverware museum, newbridge for a 2 week period in march whichmy girlfriend and i had the chance to visit...here are a few snaps from that visit...

it was mainly items of clothing, artwork and his disney and beatles memorabilia which were on display...
