i read this thought provoking post on daedal review and i was really pleased to see that this issue is still a topic for conversation among designers...
when i graduated i completed my dissertation on gender stereotypes in design...the research led me to look at gender-stereotypical roles in architecture and design and analyse different theories and research by various theologians...
i really enjoyed this as i was touching on issues relating to design that i hadn't before encountered during my 4 years of study...
i never came to any conclusions regarding gender stereotypes in design...but then again the role if an interior architect was very much so a new role in the architecture and interior design dictionary so maybe now it might be an idea to look back at my thoughts and questions and re-value my conclusions...
anyways...read the full post here..

one night in dublin...
we stayed in dublin last night and we enjoyed a pint in what is claimed to be the oldest family pub in dublin...
john kavanagh's bar, otherwise known as 'the gravediggers' due to its location right next to the gates to glasnevin cemetery, is a genuine victorian bar, totally unspoilt...
this little spot ozzes charm and charachter...it quirks with quirkyness...

georges market...
within the fine red brick facade of georges street arcade you will find an indoor colourful market that is somewhat of a sensory overload...
i was lucky enough to find a 2nd hand book stall here that was willing to buy my books from me when i was leaving dublin...
from the smell of greek olives and fine coffee's to the bright colours of nepalese throws and vintage pastels from the 50's...this arcade has to be the only place in dublin where you can get a quick tattoo while admiring prints of irish rebel heroes...
definitely bohemian...slightly alternative...authentically dublin...positively kitsch...unique

thankyou angelica...
i've recently changed my profile shot here on custardbydesign and i've used the same shot for my profile on coroflot...
a big thank-you to angelica glass who came to visit joanna and i earlier in the year for a few days...angelica captured this shot of me in a bar in dublin that i was part of the design team and design process...
angelica glass is a NYC based wedding photographer, known for capturing the fun, sexy and awkward monets on your wedding day...you can see more of her amazing work on her websites...
coroflot...
i'm not sure if anyone is familiar with coroflot or not but it's a website where you can get your work online and in front of the right people...
perfect for me and my jobsearching endeavours...right?
coroflot offers users the chance to create an online portfolio, hence creating a web-presence for users, allows users to share their work and find work...
i have found the site to be very user-friendly, easy to navigate and simple to organise my portfolio with simple drag and drop tools, the service also has a job board for members and creates traffic reports for users so i can see detailed information on how many hits i'm receiving...lets hope it turns out to be of great value to me...
this is my own personal site...http://www.coroflot.com/custardbydesign

november...
here it is, another month...
november is an odd month isn't it...a state of limbo in the run up to christmas and thats almost how my state of mind is at the moment...
i've been busy uploading portfolio work onto coroflot and creating my 'resume' for my next endeavours...
learning the difference between a CV and a resume was somewhat interesting...in the UK and ireland, a 2 page CV with cover letter would be the norm whereas like a lot of area's of my life recently i've had to cut down, re-hack, re-size and recreate...

design for yoo...
think global...think 'global residential design brand'...think 'yoo'...
'yoo', founded by philippe starck, one of my favourite designers and inspirations, and john hitchcock almost 10 years ago in 1999 is a very hip brand indeed...a collaboratin of some of my design heroes appear to be on the books including kelly hoppen and marcel wanders...
here's some eye candy for 'yoo'...
