The "Filter" design.
A new little coffee shop without "star" in it's name has entered the Washington DC scene. Located in North Dupont, Filter is quietly becoming popular among locals. Signature cups of coffee booming with personality is served by interesting young urban folks who appear to love coffee just as much as the customers.
Filter feels very different than most places in DC. It is not just the coffee. The design of Filter is funky yet straightforward. The name is appropriate because it all feels well edited or filtered. An attractive wood bench is built into an exposed brick wall. Directly across screams a bold orange wall that runs along one side of the shop. A few pieces of colorful art and dance music adds to the urban edge.
This is not the star coffee shop that stands only a block away....and that's a good thing.
