i was driving through the neighbourhood this evening and something caught my eye...
we've been really adoring a remodel project on a house nearby....corner plot, wrap around porch, 2 story building, beautiful lawns, etc...
anyway, as i was driving by i notice a sign in the yard that said 'lovingly restored'...
and i got to thinking...really...???
restoration...???
the original hardwood sash windows have been replaced with a modern pvc window, and i'm sure there are plenty of other modern interpretations of original detailing throughout the house and i got to thinking...
that sign really ought to say 'renovation' or 'lovingly renovated' or something to that effect...
what do y'all think...???what's the difference...???

I'd go the renovate line too. A true restoration project would try to replicate as closely as possible the original architectural features.

They really need to change the sign...def. not restore.
A restoration does not include putting modern plastic finishes in place of original wood windows, etc. I would definitely be changing that sign!

There is a definite difference in re-STORATION and re-NOVATION. PVC windows really??? They should change the sign...

Oh, I agree, restoring and esp lovingly restored means putting back in as many original features as poss. In fact, modern windows in an old house is equivalent to raping and plundering in my book! Hate it.
