sixx...

i've often thought about if i could work alongside herself...and i think i probably could and would...

aspiration and inspirations found in the husband and wife team Robert and Courtney Novogratz of Sixx Design...i've recently learnt of this couple although last year they hit headlines here in the states due to a TV series based on their house flipping and their seven children...

Sixx has made it their business to transform abandoned buildings in Manhattan into multi-million dollar living spaces...for their first non-residential project, Sixx has created a stunning interior for the 24 guestrooms and lounge area of Bungalow Hotel, a stylish but laidback beach hotel...

In Robert’s words it is “a modern interpretation of an international surfing lodge” with a “unique mix of modern and one-of-a-kind vintage pieces.”

i admire the eclectic mix of artwork and accessories used throughout against a white backdrop...and i like the simplicity in the design of key landmarks within the hotel such as the champagne bar...there is something really unique and individual about the use of artwork and lighting throughout...

the billiard room really captures the essence of the charachter of Bungalow...a blue billiard table, a feathered chandelier and the punchy original artwork...

another favourite image is the eye-catching 6ft mural of a stamp - made entirely out of white buttons...

love it...i'm looking forward to seeign more work from these guys...they are currently working on further hotel projects...
