i googled 'irish interior design' today and this is the image that came up first...
its the interior of a modest house built in the irish countryside in co leitrim...i love the simplistic approach to the interior...its nicely designed, fairly muted colour palette, nice retro touches too...
the house was designed by architect dominic stevens, and the interior was mainly the result of the clients creating what they wanted with local craftsmen...
"There is no highly engineered hardware or slick detailing. Most of the things you can get locally, for much less money, are just as functional and easier to maintain..."
Dominic Stevens via the New York Times...
so please keep an eye on custardbydesign next week for more gorgeous irish-related stuff...interiors, products, bloggers and more...
next wednesday is St Patrick's day...a national holiday back at home, and the cause for celebration has inspired me to devote next weeks posts to great irish design...
so if your reading this and you want to be featured or want a mention...just email me during the week...
"it is the closest that the irish will ever get to christmas"...
Michael Scott, last nights episode of The Office
i hope all my blogg followers have a great st patricks day...my festivities begin tomorrow in eureka springs, arkansas...
